The Full Story
The Goth was, for a period of nearly two years, the most internally controversial design ever proposed at the company, not for any content reason but purely over a manufacturing dilemma: could you actually produce a glossy black rubber duck at scale without it looking cheap, muddy, or, as one particularly blunt early sample review put it, "like a duck that's been left in a garage fire." Early production runs struggled badly with achieving a consistent, deep gloss finish, and at least two full manufacturing partners were parted ways with over quality disputes before the current finish process was locked in.
The silver skull print placement went through similarly exhaustive review, with the design team eventually settling on an asymmetrical cluster on the wing rather than a centered, more "costume-like" placement, a choice that reads, in the words of one designer, as "someone who's into this stuff, not someone cosplaying as someone who's into this stuff," a distinction the team cared about a great deal more than you might expect for a bath toy.
This remains a genuine favorite among a small but very online community of alternative-style toy collectors, several of whom have featured it in photography that circulates well beyond anything our own marketing team has ever managed to produce.

Gorgeous but the glossy finish is an absolute fingerprint magnet, find myself wiping it down almost daily to keep the shine looking clean. Worth knowing before you buy if you're particular about that.
I've bought cheap knockoff black rubber ducks before from other sellers and they always look grey and flat next to this one. The gloss finish here is a genuine step above, you can tell they actually solved the manufacturing problem properly instead of cutting corners.
The silver skull cluster is placed slightly off-center compared to the product photos, looks a bit lopsided. Still a nice duck otherwise but wanted to flag the inconsistency.
